Choosing to Greenlight
It's time for a major change...

Over the last decade, I’ve interviewed over 600 filmmakers and screenwriters.
Mel Brooks, Aaron Sorkin, Edgar Wright, Ethan Hawke, Anne Hathaway, Kenya Barris… I’ve had unbelievable luck booking major guests.
I’ve learned a lot, and now it’s time to put it all into practice.
Specifically, it’s time to leave the freelancing world but bring my marketing skills to filmmaking — and everything that means in 2025 (AI, social media, etc.)
In this weekly newsletter, I’ll be sharing my field notes — the tactical tools and best practices I’ll be implementing to “break in.”
Here are my specific goals for the next 12 months:
Sell Documentary Daredevil Society
Film 10-Minute Short, Foxholes
Sell 2x Television Pilots
Adapt Book into Feature
I’ll be sharing more details over the next few weeks, but essentially I’ll be editing the documentary, rewriting scripts, pitching producers, and leveraging social media to achieve the goals above.
But here’s the key part: I’m not doing this alone.
I’ve partnered with pros Brooks Elms and Jordan Morris to work alongside other serious filmmakers and screenwriters in a new program called Pitch Ready.
We’re all documenting our journeys and holding each other accountable. If you want to join us in this cohort, it starts tomorrow. Here are the details.
I'll be sharing the real, unfiltered process - the wins, the rejections, and everything in between.
Talk soon,
Brock Swinson
